This generator produces a tracing worksheet from text typed directly into it — a name, a spelling list, a signature — rather than from a fixed word bank. Up to 12 lines of text can be entered, each becoming its own set of practice rows, exported as a free PDF with the same customisation as every other worksheet on cursivewritingsheets.com.

Worksheet Generator
Type up to 12 lines of your own text — a child's name, a weekly spelling list, a signature to practise — and this generates a tracing worksheet from exactly that text, instead of a fixed word bank. Free, unlimited, no sign-up.
Definition
A cursive worksheet generator that traces the exact words you type — a name, a spelling list, a signature — rather than a fixed set of preset words.
Best for practising a specific name, a weekly spelling list, or any word or phrase that a preset word bank wouldn't include.
Features
In depth
A preset word bank can teach cursive formation in general, but it can't practise the one word that actually matters to a specific learner — their own name, this week's spelling list, or a signature they're trying to make consistent. This generator produces a tracing worksheet from text you type directly, laid out with the same four-line guide system and trace/copy/freewrite modes as every other worksheet on the site.
Type each item on its own line — up to 12 lines, roughly 40 characters each. Every line becomes its own set of practice rows, exactly like a word from the built-in word banks: a faded model to trace, followed by blank repetitions. Adjust line height, rows per item, script mode and paper size the same way as any other worksheet on the site.
This generates a practice worksheet — a model to trace and copy by hand — not a decorative cursive-font image of your text to save or paste elsewhere. If what's needed is a stylised cursive-look graphic of a name (for a poster, an invitation, a logo), a font generator is the right tool for that; this is a handwriting practice generator specifically.
Everything else about the site's tool still applies here: switch between print and cursive script, choose uppercase, lowercase or paired case, and export at any of seven paper sizes. For structured progression through the alphabet itself rather than personalised words, see beginner letter worksheets; for the full multi-mode generator, see the complete generator.

FAQ
Cursive handwriting worksheets suit children aged 5 and up, as well as teens and adults learning or improving cursive. Prewriting stroke sheets suit ages 3–6 who are still building fine motor control. Most schools introduce cursive between ages 7 and 9, after print handwriting is stable.
Yes. Every cursive handwriting worksheet on cursivewritingsheets.com is free to generate, download and print. There is no sign-up, no account, no email capture, no watermark and no download limit. The site is funded by advertising, not by charging for worksheets.
Follow a structured progression: prewriting strokes, then individual letter formation, then letter connections, then whole words, then full sentences. Practise 15 minutes daily rather than one long weekly session — handwriting is a motor skill that consolidates through frequent short repetition.
All three. The generator produces alphabet tracing worksheets (letters A–Z, uppercase, lowercase or paired), word practice from beginner, developing and fluent word banks, full sentence practice including pangrams, prewriting stroke patterns, and mixed sheets combining letters and words.
Yes, including for whole-class printing. There is no licence restriction on classroom use. Adjustable line height, paper size and worksheet mode let one teacher generate differentiated sheets for several ability groups from the same tool in a few minutes.
Letter (8.5×11in), A4 (210×297mm), Legal (8.5×14in), Tabloid (11×17in), A3, A2 and Poster — each in portrait or landscape. A4 is the default; choose Letter for North America and A3 or larger for classroom wall display.
Yes. Line height adjusts from 6mm to 30mm, margins from 0mm to 30mm, and rows per item from 1 to 10. Paper colour, guideline colour and model-letter colour are all configurable, as are guideline opacity and tracing opacity.
Match line height to stage: 20–25mm for prewriting (ages 5–6), 15–20mm for beginner letters (ages 6–8), 12–15mm for developing letters (ages 8–10), 10–12mm for fluent letters (ages 10–11), and 8–10mm for words and sentences (age 11+). Adults relearning cursive usually start at 10–12mm.
No. The worksheets are generated in your browser and the PDF is produced locally on your own device — nothing is uploaded and no server processes your worksheet. There is no software to install, no account to create, and no personal information is collected to download a sheet.
Trace mode prints a faded model letter on every repetition for the learner to draw over. Copy mode prints one solid model at the start of the row and leaves the rest blank. Freewrite mode prints ruled guidelines only, with no model. The usual progression is trace, then copy, then freewrite.
