When a printed cursive worksheet doesn't match its on-screen preview, the cause is almost always the print dialogue, not the PDF itself. The most common issue is a 'fit to page' or 'shrink to fit' scaling option left on, which silently changes the millimetre line height that was set in the generator. Checking scale, print quality, paper size and orientation in that order resolves nearly every printing problem.

Printed worksheets sometimes come out different from the on-screen preview — lines drawn at the wrong height, margins cut off, guidelines barely visible. Every one of these has a specific, fixable cause in the print dialogue, not the worksheet itself. This page runs through them in order of how often they actually happen.
Definition
A troubleshooting reference for cursive worksheet printing problems — wrong scale, cut-off margins, faint lines and paper-size mismatches — with the print-dialogue fix for each.
Best for anyone whose printed cursive worksheet doesn't match the on-screen preview, before assuming the generator itself is at fault.
In depth
This is almost always the print dialogue, not the PDF. Open the print settings and look for a scaling option — it's usually labelled 'Fit to page', 'Shrink to fit' or 'Scale to fit', and it is often on by default. Switch it to 'Actual size' or '100%'. A worksheet set to 15mm line height printed at 92% scale comes out at roughly 13.8mm — close enough to look right and far enough to matter for a beginner's four-line guide.
Check three things in order: first, the printer's toner or ink level — faint printing on every page (not just the worksheet) means it's a printer problem, not the file. Second, the generator's guideline opacity and tracing opacity sliders — both default to a deliberately soft value so the model doesn't overpower the learner's own writing, but they can be raised before exporting if a printer already runs light. Third, 'Draft' or 'Economy' print mode, which noticeably lightens fine lines — switch to 'Normal' or 'High' quality for worksheets specifically.
This happens when the paper loaded in the tray doesn't match the size selected in the generator — for example, generating on A4 but printing on US Letter, which is narrower and shorter. Check the paper size selector in the generator matches what's physically in the printer tray, and check the print dialogue's paper-size field independently — some printer drivers override the PDF's declared size with their own default.
Portrait and landscape are set inside the generator before export, not in the print dialogue. If a landscape worksheet prints portrait (or vice versa), most print dialogues have their own orientation override — set it to 'Automatic' or match it manually to what was chosen when the PDF was generated.
Screens and printers render colour differently by nature — a paper colour or line colour that looks right on screen can shift slightly once printed, especially on inkjet printers. This is a known limitation of RGB-to-CMYK conversion rather than a setting to fix. For colour-critical printing (classroom colour-coding, for example), print one test page before running a full batch.
Print one worksheet at default settings — 100% scale, Normal quality, matching paper size — before changing anything else. Most print problems are one of the five above; ruling them out first saves time compared to guessing at the generator's settings.
